Make Your Plan To Vote in the 2021 Spring Elections
/Good Day Members and Friends!
Our statewide primary is just around the corner! Please spread the word on getting people registered to vote and vote during this election. Please see the important information that our Voter Services committee is sharing on how to find out more about the candidates, especially the State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Our Statewide Primary election is Tuesday, February 16th. The important position of State Superintendent of Public Instruction is on the ballot. This position is for a four-year term, with no term limit. It is a nonpartisan, constitutional office within the executive branch of the state government.
The superintendent's responsibilities include providing leadership for Wisconsin's public school districts, providing the public with information about school management, attendance, and performance, licensing the state's teachers, and receiving and disbursing federal aid for schools.
There are seven candidates for the position. The League has asked five questions of all the candidates. Their responses are published verbatim at Vote411.org. In addition, you can watch the League’s two-hour Forum for State Superintendent here.
At Vote411.org and also at MyVote.wi.gov you can register if you have moved (and help others to register!), find out about absentee ballots, find your in-person polling place, and more.
Please help spread the word that it’s always possible to receive assistance from nonpartisan experts statewide by calling or texting the Voter Helpline at 608-285-2141.
In addition, please find attached a flyer with comprehensive voting information for both the Feb. 16th primary and the April 6th spring election.
We are so pleased that Ashland County folks will have the chance to vote on the Fair Maps referendum in April. Fair Maps referenda have passed in 28 counties, including Bayfield (Nov. 2020).
